This is the place where you will be able to find all of the information about Year 5. We will update this area regularly with homework and our termly overviews. Please check the newsletter for updates and key dates. You can always arrange an appointment with the Office to meet with us should you need any further information.
This term, just like the rest of the school, Year 5 will be exploring the idea of Successful Me! This will weave its way throughout all our learning across the curriculum, from Art (portraits) to Geography (the South West)!
Children are to read four times a week and to write a summary about what they have read (this could be 1-3 sentences) once a week. Then, once a week, children need to choose a new word from their reading book, write its meaning and a sentence using that word. Reading records will be checked every Friday and should be handed to your child's class teacher. Please sign them each week!
Here are some helpful documents to provide you with guidance on appropriate book choices for your child. Happy Reading! :)
Maths homework will be handed out every Friday, and needs to be handed in by the following Friday at the latest (we recommend aiming to hand it in by Thursday). The Maths homework will be based on content that was covered in the previous week, so the children should be able to attempt every question independently. However, if they need help then feel free to offer them a hand: simply circle 'Supported' at the top of the page.
English homework will be handed out every Friday, and needs to be handed in by the following Friday at the latest (we recommend aiming to hand it in by Thursday). It will usually contain a text that the children will need to read and then answer questions on. These questions help the children to practise the type of text analysis that we learn during the week in Reading lessons.
