Intent 

 'With languages, you are at home anywhere'

At Mangotsfield, we believe Language learning provides a gateway to other cultures, helps to break down social barriers and equips children with a curiosity about the wider world. Building this cultural capital will equip our learners to understand the richness and diversity of other cultures and enable them to appreciate ‘life in all its fullness’ as citizens of an interconnected world.

Learning other languages will also boost confidence while improving understanding of grammar in English. Through interrogating and exploring grammatical structures and vocabulary in another language, they will foster a love of language and an interest in the way they work. This will give children a solid foundation in language learning, which prepares them for Key Stage 3.
