Computing
Intent
‘Computers themselves, and software yet to be developed, will revolutionise the way we learn.’
At Mangotsfield, we understand the integral part the internet and digital devices play in our current lives and the power it will hold in the future lives of our learners. Our aim is to prepare children to be computing literate by teaching them the fundamental principles of computer science (computation, information and how digital systems work) and how to put this knowledge to use through programming; the programs children learn to use will be revisited, progressively building in complexity and depth. Our learners will be fluent in the basics of information technology, using digital devices to safely create high quality artifacts. In an ever-changing world, it is crucial they understand the importance of digital literacy: how to use the internet and communicative tools effectively and safely. The modules of our computing curriculum are designed to integrate into our connected curriculum framework wherever possible, giving purpose to learning and outcomes and showing our learners the vast application of computing in the real world.
